Life Settlement Index Recap - Nov, 2010 Data

The Amrita Life Settlement Index’s November 2010 data was released on December 7th at 10:00 AM EST. The index rose 33.6 points to reach 740 points. The relatively small 4.8% increase was enough to establish a new all time high for the life settlement index which measures demand in the secondary life insurance market.

The index’s modest rise was based on strong life settlement provider offer and closing activity in November. The majority of respondents reported an increase in both areas of their operations. However, the amount of policies received for consideration by providers stayed relatively flat. Escalating offer and closing activities contrasted with the level deal flow suggests a shift occurred in the secondary market’s supply demand equilibrium last month.

Most providers also reported their buying parameters and target IRR’s were comparable to the previous month. Of note, respondents reported a mixed bag of predicted buying appetites for December compared with that of the previous month.
