Life Settlement Index Recap - Feb 2011 Data

The February 2011, Amrita Life Settlement Index results were reported on Tuesday March 1st at 10:00 AM EST. The results showed a decrease in demand as the index dropped 80.4 points or 9.5% to 763.8. This follows 6 straight months of increases.

A significant amount of life settlement providers reported an increase in cases received for review and purchase consideration. While the amount of providers reporting an increase in offers made and cases closed didn't increase accordingly. In fact, some providers reported decreases in closed cases and offers tendered. This was a major contributing factor to the index's decline, as it shows supply outstripping demand.

Forward looking sentiment was mixed with most providers seeing no change in expected demand next month. For those providers forecasting demand to increase next month, an almost equal amount reported their demand would likely decline.
